Title: Indoor Air Chemistry: Insights from a Recent National Academies Report
Description: Indoor environmental quality has been the subject of research for decades, with substantial efforts undertaken to reduce exposure to indoor air pollutants (e.g., radon, carbon monoxide, tobacco smoke, wood-burning stove emissions), but indoor chemistry is a nascent field of
chemical research that seeks to identify indoor chemical sources, reactions, and
transformations. The importance of indoor chemistry research is underscored by the fact that Americans spent an average of nearly 90% of their lives in their homes and other indoor locations. Emerging research is beginning to illuminate more about the chemistry taking place inside our homes, office buildings, and recreational spaces.
